# gpt-image-2-vip Under Heavy Load — Use the Official Models as a Fallback

> gpt-image-2-vip is seeing a surge in requests and demand is outpacing the reverse-engineered route, so some requests fail or queue longer; gpt-image-2.5-sunburst-vip runs on separate capacity and is doing better. gpt-image-2-all availability has dropped due to today's OpenAI provider-side outage. When these routes are unavailable, fall back to the official gpt-image-2 / gpt-image-2.5 series.

⚠️ **`gpt-image-2-vip` is under heavy load; when the reverse-engineered models are unavailable, use the official models as a fallback first**

Requests to `gpt-image-2-vip` have surged today and demand is outpacing the reverse-engineered route — this is a spike in demand, not a cut in capacity — so some requests return 429 or queue longer. `gpt-image-2-all` availability has also dropped because of today's provider-side OpenAI (ChatGPT web) outage.

Current status by route:

* Official `gpt-image-2` and `gpt-image-2.5` series (e.g. `gpt-image-2.5-sunburst`): working normally, billed per token, suitable as a fallback
* `gpt-image-2.5-sunburst-vip`: runs on capacity separate from `gpt-image-2-vip`, currently doing better
* `gpt-image-2-vip`: heavily loaded, some requests fail or are slow
* `gpt-image-2-all` / `gpt-image-2.5-all`: availability reduced by the provider-side outage
